Just this week he was diagnosed with Melanoma. I was just reading the Hydrea is used to treat Melanoma, so how could he get it? Shouldn't the Hydrea have stopped it?
Hi min2603; I presume Hydrea is known generically as Hydroxy Urea. I am amazed that your husband has been on it for about 10 years. What was the frequency for testing the hemetocrit (packed cell volume) levels and has the dosage been varied over the years, depending on the hemetocrit levels ? Suggest that your husband visits a Hematologist at the earliest.
I have had P vera since 1999. I am female age 56 yrs. in 1/2014 I was hospitalized for severe left back/ flank pain, turns out my spleen had gotten a lot larger and that is what the pain was from. I was started on 10mg Jakafi twice a day been on it for 3 1/2 was. Anxious to see it work !!
