My husband had back surgery on 3,4,5,lumbar and is still having chronic pain from the back injury. Surgery did not help the pain.
Hello there. When I was caring for my father at home he had brain, lung & liver cancer we were given duragesic patches for his pain. He had 3day & 5day patches in different strengths that he used together. Plus we had fentanyl suckers that he sucked on as needed for break thru pain as well as to moisten his mouth. This worked really well to control his pain. Hope this helps. Take care
To most of the above, cancer was never mentioned as an issue. The issues being end stage Liver disease and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Emphysema.
I don't know what the pain patches are for but also being in the late to end stage liver disease basket myself, I know from discussions with my doctor that while the application sites for the fentanyl patches I wear itch until they bleed from being scratched at. If I place the patches on thin sensitive skin it causes blistering which get torn off when the patch is changed. While other painkillers might be better for a variety of reasons I only get and am allowed Fentanyl as it has the lowest metabolic load out of prescription pain killers.
I have NASH, end stage as well. I take Opana and it seems to help a lot. It is relatively safe on the liver and it is extended relief. I take two pills every 24 hours. I also take Oxycodone to help for immediate release/relief. The combination of the two works very well, for me. As time draws closer, I am experiencing more and more pain. I'm going on Monday October 13th to get a TIP, as the stomach taps (Parentheses) have stopped working. I look like I am 9 months pregnant, and the swelling is so bad in my legs and feet, it's hard to believe that I'm capable of even walking ten feet, much less around the block. It's extremely hard for me to breathe or get comfortable because of the acites.
Anyway, I pray that you find something that you can take to help ease your pain.
