only want to detox w/support group in the shortest time starting w/4mg suboxone, need to know taper system, also am alcoholic about 1/5 daily, answers please
I am not sure if the OC is extended release or immediate release but a person must be free of opiate for 24 hours before taking the first dose of suboxone, or they will go into precipitated withdrawal. The suboxone molecule needs the whole receptor site to sit on, if there is residual opiate in the brain, the 2 meds will fight for the receptor site and cancel each other out. You can also google the COWS sheet ( clinical Opiate withdrawal scale) and at the 24 hour mark, take the COWS test, you should be at at least 26 to start suboxone, and not go into withdrawal. Suboxone starts working in 20 to 45 minutes BUT, it continues to reach full strength for about 2 more hours and then you will be wd free for at least 24 hours, maybe longer. If the OC is an extended release, you may need to wait longer, those brain receptor sites have to be free of opiate, or precip will set in. I am not judging you at all, but drinking on suboxone is NOT a good idea at all. Suboxone is very powerful, even tho you won't get high, it will knock you out if you drink on it. You are smart to start with a small amount of subs, I just don't want you to pass out and not be able to figure out why, if you drink on subs.
