With graves/4 eye surg, hyper thyroid treated and still not controlled, hep c untreated, dental problems being treated, possible lymph gland problems seeking dx presently, afraid to start fosamx! My hx is no illness at all untill 4 yrs ago which I began prednisone, and from there all went to hell. Please advise jenny
Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue and loss of bone density over time. Osteoporosis occurs when the body fails to form enough new bone, when too much old bone is reabsorbed by the body, or both.
There are several different types of medications that can be taken for osteoporosis.
Bisphosphonates eg Fosamax are the primary drugs used to both prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
Calcitonin, Hormone replacement therapy and Parathyroid hormone are other options.
