For over 6 years my pain level and meds have increased a bunch. I now take 4 x 60mg MS Contin a day. This is with Neurontin , Mobic and 3 x 30mg Morphime for breakthrough pain. Any suggestions in getting to ground zero and see where my pain is really at?
How to get off MS Contin suggestions?

Excuse me, Morphine that is. My goal is to get off 100%. Suggestions and advice as to how long to taper off and in what manner would be appreciated.
If your pain has increased, why would you want off the MSContin? If it's simply to measure the level of pain you truly have, just stop taking them for a few days and then you will see. Of course you should run this by your prescribing doc first. The MSContin you are prescribed has only one lower in strength and at least 3 to 4 higher. Really though, it's best to ask your doc about decreasing your meds. The MSContin is time released so you can't cut it in half to lower the dosage. Please consult with your doc. Maybe he can cut back on the bt meds and lower the mg of the MSContin to 30mg.
Good luck to you and please don't do this on your own.
i agree with christine, talk with your doc first. if your doing well and your pain is under control, perhaps you could decrease just to see how the pain is going. but if the pain level rises, the choice is whether you'd rather endure the pain and be free of the pain meds, or take them and be free of the pain.
