This was my first month and originally, I was prescribed 15mg oxycodone. As every pharmacy I went to claimed they were out I was forced to go back to my doctor who then prescribed me lortabs which she said were only half as strong. Any how as prescribed I could take one every 4-6 hours. At every 4hours that's only a twenty day supply. (Yes I realize I failed to think ahead). Now next week I go back and will have to take another urine test. And by then I'll have been out for about a week. Is there any chance I'll still have enough left in my system to pass the test?
It is doubtful that you will still have them in your system if you are out for a week. They only last in the system about 3 days or so. One advantage to Lortabs is that they can be called in to a pharmacy where oxycodone cannot. I'm sure your Dr knows that if you are allowed them every 4 hours that you have only a 20 day supply so you might try calling in for a refill so you dont run out prior to the appt or if she wont refill between visits then you will need to space them out a little so you dont run out or at least save one to take the day of your appt. If you are able to go an entire week without them she may question whether or not you really need them. You might call her soon and let her know you have been needing to use them every four hours and that you will be running out by 20 days. Perhaps she will call in more so you dont have to go without or she can move your appt up a week.
It never hurts to call and ask what to do rather than having to go without and be uncomfortable. I, personally, would have held out for the pharmacy to order in the oxycodone 15mg but that is just my opinion. I think it would hold your pain better but it does have the disadvantage of not being able to be refilled or called in. You have to have a hard copy script in your hot little hands each fill! Good Luck-I hope you can get something worked out.
I agree with dzoobaby call the doc let them know. The drs like it better when you are honest maybe you need a higher script they don't know if you don't tell them. But if you are honest and call even if the dr is busy and you have to leave a message do so. My dr's have always like it that I inform them ahead of time good luck and I wish you good health litlmommag}
What you should do is call your pharmacy to fax in a refill request. If it is denied then you should call your doctor and have them pull your chart so they can see what is written and let them do the math. If the doctor is understanding then they will refill it, if not then make an earlier appointment. If they say no to the appointment then unfortunately you will have to put up with wd. When you do go to your appointment make sure that you tell the doctor exactly how you have been taking the medicine. I hope that they just refill the RX and if they don't I hope they are sympathetic and listen to what you have to say when you take your urine test. I don't feel like I helped much but with these pain doctors there is only so much you can do. Are you a new pain patient? Did you have to sign a contract?
