Meaning not extended version? I was switched to this just recently (just took second pill) and was not informed it would be a 12 week thing. Getting my period is always this relief of, okay, confirmation I'm not pregnant. Not knowing that for three months at a time just seems scary. I'm paranoid even though my husband and I are careful.
You have a good point and probably need to talk to your doctor if you prefer a monthly period.
It is safe to have a period every three months - and current thinking is that it is preferred. This is because the "tablet free intervals" are reduced (only every 3 months not every month) and there is less chance of pregnancy from missed tablets etc.
Either regimen is fine and safe - it's your choice.
