I have severe neck pain and muscle spams. My Dr. has prescribed several pain meds. but none really help. Is this normal for stroke patients and something I will just have to live with. I also have severe anxiety and sometimes panic attacks.
Without knowing the pain meds specifically, it is difficult to answer your question. Just because you are a stroke patient doesn't mean you have to live in pain. The uncontrolled anxiety could be exacerbating the neck pain and muscle spasms. Please give the doctor a call and let him/her know you are still in pain.
I agree, having a stroke would not matter. I've had a stroke and pain meds work for me. There are many different types of pain meds, and various strengths. Seems that your doctor has not yet discovered what works for you. Make sure your doctor knows this and tell him/her you want to keep on trying. If you let us know what they are we can tell you the type of medication it is and how it works. Don't settle for living in pain until you have tried many more things. Has your doctor done an MRI to determine the source of your pain? Once the source has been found nerve blocks, etc may help also and then you would need less or no pain meds.
