I am a geriatric patient with CHF and right ventricular hypertension. My cardiologist has no experience with Revatio and prescribed the standard 3-20mg tabs/day, in November. It's helped me lose 8-10 lbs. of fluid and breath better, but I still have about 8-10 lbs of residual fluid that I can't seem to get rid of. Can he increase my dosage w/o ruining my kidneys? I am also on 2-40mg Lasix/day... Thank You, HR
The standard dosage of Revatio tablets for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension is 20 mg three times a day. Doses are taken about four to six hours apart.
Studies have shown that dosages higher than 20 mg three times a day do not increase the effectiveness of Revatio, but do increase the risk of side effects. Revatio has not been studied at dosages lower than 20 mg three times a day, so it is unknown if lower doses are as effective as the standard dose.
Maybe seeking a second opinion would be helpful, take care.
