My father is hyperkalemic and I'm working on a strict diet for him, but am unable to lower potassium below 4.9 (3.5-5.0 is normal). Got it down from 6.6 in 2 weeks. Need to see if his medication is high in potassium.
Lisinopril does not contain any potassium. Please see the tables at the very bottom in the link below.
If the potassium level is high or out of normal range constantly then please get his doctor to do a renal function test. Sometimes people on lisinopril, who have renal insufficiency, may experience hyperkalaemia.
