I am a type two diabetic and my doctor have me on 3 different medications my numbers run any where from 89 to 140 on a good day with and without my medications. What is a normal range? I have been on these 3 meds for approximately 1 year now. I have gained roughly in this past year of taking these meds about 25-30 pounds.
Normal range when fasting is 70 - 130mg/dL & 2 hours later after you have taken your normal meal it should read below 180 mg/dL which in your case seems to read normal. Diabetes med usually have the tendency to cause hunger pangs which might increase the weight, you must monitor weight gain as it is not recommended for diabetic patients, but it also could cause weight loss, however I have been on diabetic meds so can tell you all this by experience, which is well over 20 years now. I suggest that you seek medical advice & do some walking at least 3-4 miles 6 days a week. I knocked off around 40kg - about 80-85 pounds of weight in 2 years.
I would check the possible side affects of all your meds. I know I gained 45lbs on avandia and when suspecting it was cousing water retention was changed to actos. When reading about actos it had the same weight gain reaction listed as avandia. When stopping both I lost the weight and felt much better. I was retaining fluid on both meds. We must take responsibility for our own medical care. You just cant leave it up to your Dr.
