Dear Mrs.Page 82, I don't know the answer to that because I am an oxycodone addict. I would love to hear your responses cause I so very much want to quit! I am scared to death because of the terrible DT's I go through. Will you let me know some of the responses??? Good luck to you and you will be in my thoughts and prayers!! Terry B
Hey there my friend! All I ask is that if you have bad pain, do not feel bad about'falling off the wagon.' But from what I have heard, the least difficult way is to decrease your meds by half a pill every 3 days. Of course they have to be the type of meds you CAN split... unlike oxycontin or other time released meds. I sure wish you the very best my dear! Of course we all expect frequent updates so we can rally the troops to support you! Wishing you much love, respect, and success! your friend, chris
Thank You everyone for such a quick response. I definantly would like to stop taking them cause i feel like i just cant live without them and i feel like they control me and how i treat people and i dont like that. However i do need them cause as of now there is not a very bright future for me i was denied my ssi cause of my past illegal drug use history. They made that pretty clear in my denial letter. I have no insurance i pay everything out of pocket and im just broke and im sick and tired of being sick and tired if you know what i mean. As long as i got some help and i know you guys will do everything in your power to help me succeed so thank you all for being there by my side. Armed with knowledge i can actually consider this idea now instead of put it in the back of my mind. Yall have a good day talk to yall later.
MrsPage, Hi there my dear, sorry you seem to be in such a dilemna. If you were denied SSDisability, Yes, do as Chris said and fight that. In the interim time, are you not getting any kind of help from the state, ie., Medicaid? Have you ever gotten Medicaid or any help from the State? I ask, because on Medicaid, you will get your insurance and be able to have tests such as MRI's and others. Also,if you so get the Medicaid, there are many places you can go to Detox off of the pain meds that will give you medications to help you through it, and then, maybe you want to consider a Suboxone program. It's a few days of being pretty uncomfortable, but not deathly, and then you would get your Suboxone which would take away all those w/d symptoms you had to go through to get where you are able to take the Suboxone and now you are on ONE drug, that, if you wish, you can taper off of.
Maybe you need the Suboxone for pain mgmt. and if you feel you don't, a clinic will help you to taper off of it. This may be a worthless answer, as you may not be eligible for Medicaid, i don't know how things work where you are, but if you are on more than one med, it think it might be hard to get off of them by taper. You certainly need to start w/one at a time, not everything at once, as I'm sure you've figured out. Anyway, I always feel that having some kind of medical intervention when trying to get off of drugs is the best route to go, as long as you are at a facility that is truly sympathetic to your problem and wants to help you and make you as comfortable as possible, as any detox if not pleasant, but if you went the Suboxone route, it could be over in 5 days max I would think and you would feel fine and be on your merry way, then, you can look at your situation and decide if you truly want to live completely drug free and if it's possible. If you research the computer you may even find a place that has applications for charity care for hospital detox, there are some things out there we don't even know about unless we look really hard, you know?
Best of luck, whatever route you take, I wish you success and love and comfort in your endeavor. Dede
Take your meds and put your normal dose in a seven day med despense box. The second week decrease by 2 pills a day. Third week by 1 pill per day. 4th week by i pill per day, You ill have the pills if needed but since you want off of them use it as a crutch. You will then need to go to everyother day and so on. This has worked until you only take them a couple times a day a a much lower dose. Most is the fact that you know you have help if needed but just dont do it. Tell yourself everytime you want one to put it off a hour or two and thus you get your control and no side effects of it... 6 people I have walked through this and had if work... good support friends are a must. If a pill head hangs with you then tell them your moving on and a cup of coffee with no mention of pills is still vialble but mostly get them out of the pill topic!
