My Dr. is worried that i have been on a narcotic (percotete) for to long due to back pain caused by two bulging disks L4/L5 and S-1/2. I have been now put on Gabapentin. Is this really a better subsitute. I have been taking it for a week now and still have a lot of pain. The narcotic seemed to work better but, I'm not a Dr. I am in the Army and am very active also must drive everyday and make quick life or death desistions on a daily basis. Is this a better alternative
The bulging discs of L4/L5 and S1/2 is a common problem as we get older. From sitting, running and just plain old everyday living. As for your question on percotete you are not allowed to drive. I am surprised the Army lets you drive. But Gabapentin is much better for your job. I take it in the morning and evening and I do not notice I have lack of disks in my neck. Only thing I can not do now is martial arts. It takes awhile for it to work, but for me it is wonderful.
