Hello danielle. Both are as you might know are benzodiazepines. The diazepam is a long lasting drug, while the xanax is a short lasting drug. They both vary as to the amount of time in your body. So I might only guess, which I really can't do, because of it being just that, a guess. I suggest you ask your doctor or pharmacist to get thier opinion. Best to you,
