I am in the process of moving to CA Believe it or not there isn't a clinic within 5 hours of where I am moving (Eureka, CA) According to research I have done there are many seboxin doctors. Call me a weak but I am so afraid of WD. Ive never in my life ever been close to suicide but I was when I was in methadone WD. I swore I would be on methadone for the rest of my life. Please let me know if anyone has been in this position or can give me any advice. I have been on 100mgs for 11 years.
You have to be on at least 30mg. Personally I'm trying to get down to 25 or 20 If I can do so. You have to be stableized As well. Say you taper down to 30 you must stay at that dose for about 2 weeks before you make the switch. My highest methadone dose was 75 I just started comming down I dropped 10 last week I had very little wd. Nothing I couldn't handle at all. You can safely drop 10 percent per week at your dose. Even more when your that high with probably no wd at all till you get down to 50 or 60 at that point slow it down a little. The swith can be done with very little to no wd at all. Once your down to 30 or less you must stay off mmt for about 72 hours. The cows sheet can help you with this. I plan on taking a week off work when I make my switch and trying to hold out past 72 hours As I'm terrified to go into precipitated wd which will happen If enough opiate is still in your system. I'm my 6 years of being addicted to heroin and pills I never went sick more than an hour I couldn't even take it for one flipping hour so If I can do this anyone can Lol. I'm just so ready to be off this stuff and keep telling my self its only a few days of the rest of my life. When making the switch. Now getting down to 25 30mg that could be a whole other challange but I don't see it being that bad If I do it slow enough. 10 percent every two weeks should be good. Faster then that in the begning till you get to 60 or 50 should be fine too but once you get lower you will have to slow it down If you want to stay comfortable
One more option could be to go on a script of opiate for a month or so then stop taking the opiate for 12 hours and make the switch to suboxone. This would be the most comfortable easy way and its also the way detox that specialize in getting people off methadone do it. They put you on ms cotin and make the switch once the mmt is out of your system. However this method can be dangerous for addicts. Personally I'm trying to get my mmt doctor to give me a months script to make the switch. I offered to pick up my pills 3 times a day at a pharmacy to ensure I'm taking them As prescribed. I will know how this is going to pan out for me in a few weeks. The quicker the better. But for an addict that method can be really bad. Good luck and god bless keep us updated
