I am about 5'5 and 120 lbs. I am in a suboxone program which is really strick about benzos. But I have been having anxiety attacks and I have been self medicating with xanax regularly for the past couple week but now I am really freaking out that I will fail my drug test (urine test) in about two weeks! I need some help!!
This question has also been asked and answered here: How long will Xanax stay in your system for a urine test?
First let me explain that it depends on your metabolism, how much you were taking, and how often you were taking it. The general rule for benzo's is upto 3 days for short term use and upto 3 weeks for long term use. You need to be careful discontinuing the xanax if you have been taking it daily for several weeks as it can have withdrawal effects.
Paige, Laurie is right about the metabolism, benzos can embed in the fat layers like marijuana, and can take up to 6 weeks to clear. From what you are describing with your weight and height, you should clear, but you need to let your doctor know you are having anxiety, so he can rx you something like clonidine or an antidepressant for the anxiety, so you can stay with the subs program. It is also dangerous to mix benzos or any other substance that slows the breathing down, the combo can cause you to stop breathing. If you are really worried, take a home drug test a couple of times before you go for your subs refill appointment. Pattishan
first i commend you for getting on suboxone, but self medicating is not good. enough of that. Xanax wont stay in your system long like you said you dont take it all the time, so drink lots and lots of water it will help flush it out of your system getting it through your kidneys which filters this stuff out if you stop taking it now you will be fine in two weeks. good luck your friend if needed, amber
