Hello y'all! I have a new pain medicine that I started today. For the past two years, I've been on between 180mg and 240mg of Roxicodone a day. I was starting to almost seem to feel little to no pain relief at all, and that's a problem to take all that in a day with no relief! I talked with my pain specialist (who I've seen for over a year) and was put on 180mg of immediate release Morphine. I've always had trouble with Morphine while I was admitted in the hospital but just totally didn't think to mention it for some strange reason?! Well, I took it today and didn't feel pain relief like I felt I needed. How long should I wait until I call my doctor? I want to at least give it a good try, but don't want to wait in pain! In the past I've tried just about everything you can imagine and honestly had the most relief from Roxicodone, Dilaudid, and Fentanyl Patches... Morphine for some reason just never seemed to do it for me. :( Thanks for all the help! :)
Wow, that seems like an awfully high dosage 180mg. How many times a day do you take it? Just curious. I'd be out for a week! If you aren't feelings any effects at that dosage after 24 hours, I think I'd call the doctor & tell him (or her) that morphine just doesn't ring your bell. At the beginning you said Roxicodone wasn't helping you, but at the end of your question you said it was one that gave you the most relief. I'm confused. Run that by me again, please? Hope your get the help you're looking for & good luck to you. Mary
Briah I too have problems with Morphine, have you ever taken (MS Contin that is extended release Morphine?) whether it is short or long acting its not that I don't get pain relief but I have side effects that are too severe to tolerate, being in Chronic pain and taking something and it not working then its time to inform the doctor, I would not worry about giving it what you think is a good length to try it if this medication does not do the job then the doctor needs to get a call from you and you need to inform him that you are not able to have adequate pain control, I wish you the best, feel free to keep us posted, my first name is Billy my site name is

I am currently at a remote cottage, and the nearest hospital is a 3 hour drive. I have doubled over?
