I have a stitch on my mechanical mitral valve that interferes with my electrical activity of my heart. Hence, abnormal heart rhythm. catheter ablation can not touch this. so tikosyn is my drug since June 2011. anyone out there been on this drug for a long time? Just curious! Thx! :)
Please see the link below ... it has reviews ... and some of them do mention that they have been on it for a while.
I have been taking this drug for 3 years. I am told that it will eventaully stop working but until then I am good to go. Do not like the limits it puts on taking other drugs, especially decongestents and cillin antibiotics.
Almost 7 years on Tikosyn 500mg twice daily. Sporadic episodes on AFib. but they usually self-correct within a week.
Been on Tikosyn 250 twice daily since 2008, if I were you I would check into the new way of doing ablations called cryoablation their success rate has gone up to close to 80 to 85%. And you just never know until you ask.
I've taken it since April 2010. After first ablation. I still get AFIB so it does control it all the time. Sometimes I wonder if it's working at all...
