if you only have been taking them for 6 months?
It depends on how much you have been taking them. Generally physical addiction begins only 2-3 weeks after you begin taking them.
Talk to your doctor about weaning yourself from them.
If they are of no help, start by subtracting only 1 pill a day from your total intake. If you start to feel sick, take a half of klonopin (longer lasting than xanax). Do this for 2 weeks. Then subtract another 1/2 of a pill for 2 weeks. After that 2 weeks you should be off a total of 2 pills(xanax and klonopin combined) total. When you feel ill, only take a half of a klonopin.
I think xanax is more physically addicting for me, especially because it does not last as long as klonopin does and i find myself taking more xanax. With klonopin it lasts longer and is not as much of a knock out.
It's a slow process and can take months to totally wean yourself depending on the amount you've been taking, but just try to stick to a schedule and you'll be able to do it or at least get yourself down to the lowest possible amount that works effectively... which is always the best option with any drug.
