How long does it take to ween off of methadone during pregnancy ( before birth)?

it depends on how much your taking, how often, if you need to do it quicky which i don't recommend but it could take you a week or two. if you need more specifics let me know, amber

taking 1-2 per day, can i do it in less than one week?

yep you sure can, wont be a problem go to one a day then 1/2 a day then all done. hope this helped. amber

Hey butterfly,

According to the literature you need to take at least 10 days between dosage reductions. Reducing dosage by no more than 20% every ten days is recommended. If you go any faster you may experience withdrawal symptoms and that includes the baby. I highly recommend you speak to your obstetrician before you undertake this as I do not know how far along you are in the pregnancy etc.

Please consult a professional before attempting to wean yourself off the methadone.

You really need to let your ObGyn know about this, some have some really strong feelings about whether a MOM to be should ween off. Ask whomever is prescribing the methadone and tell your OB about this, it really is important. free discount card
