i have been taking suboxone for a year and half,is that to long.
Not necessarily, ask your doctor AND your therapist if they think you are ready to taper. If you can click comment and let us know how long you had an opiate dependence, what you were taking and how much subs you are on, it will be helpful to have that info in order for others to answer this post.
I can only share what my doctor who is an addiction's specialist believes. He only prescribes suboxone for three to six months. He says that the brain has healed in that amount of time and that it is the drug company's greediness that makes them suggest for people to be on it longer.
That being shared, only you can say for sure whether you are ready to be free of the suboxone. Have you received addiction's counseling along with the drug therapy? It is highly recommended so to learn tools to deal with the temptations that come once off the suboxone.
