I have been on the same one for a couple of years and it doesn't seem to work . I cry allot because of events that have recently happened in my life and need to get out of this slump. My sister recently got on Celexa and feeling so much better would it be right for me. Feeling sooooo down!
My experience with antidepressants has been that I need to change medications every 5 or so years. You will need to taper off the one you are on according to your doctor's instructions and start the new one per your doctor's directions. Just because you are on one before you try another one doesn't mean you won't have some initial side effects. I have found that most common side effects decrease with continued use.
Only your doctor can decide if your sad feelings are suggestive of a need for a change in dose of your current medication or whether you would benefit from a new one.
Best of luck to you,
Hello, I was taking Celexa for 10 years. I found it to be a great antidepressant. But it also got old for me so I switched to Lexapro (about 1 month now) and no problems. I also used to cry a lot when depressed and I haven't had an episode and feel content. Hope this helps Cathleen
