As of today Pradaxa is not approved for use in the prevention of DVTs or PEs. To use it for this indication, i.e. your Factor V disorder, would be an "off label" use of the product. I have used Pradaxa as an "off label" prescription for DVTs and PEs and it did not do very well for me. I got multiple DVTs after a long car drive, 14 hours to destination-bad weather, one week at destination, and 10 hours back from destination. A week later multiple DVTs. Also, you want to consider that there is no easy way to reverse the Pradaxa at the hospital, if you have an accident or major injury.
