my son has server autism it was learned that he had amino acid deficity and has been on serine and glycine since the age of 3, i've gotten many different answers to this some say it's for the autism others say it's due to a lack of protein produced in the brain. please explain why this is helping him
Glycine and serine are essential amino acids.
Amino acids can not be made by the body. We must get them from our diet or by supplement.
One of the problems identified with autism is a digestive system that cannot fully break down all protein into its basic components, the amino acids.
By taking these supplements we provide the body with the essential amino acids necessary for brain function which may help the symptoms of autism.
