On my dosage converter it shows that the equivalent dose is 21.33mgs of oxycodone is comparable to 8 mgs of hydromorphone. So 40mgs is almost double the recommended conversion. The one thing to take into account is the patients tolerence. Hydromorphone is a powerful drug and you wouldn't start someone with a newe pain issue on it as it would sedate them if not kill them at the right dose. So the 40mgs although not a strong dose for oxycodone should be more than sufficient to cover the 8mgs of hydromorphone..Good luck..Dave free discount card
