I am not a doctor but have been on Paradaxa since Dec 3,2010. I have asked my doctor the same question and he said that it works differently then cumodin. It prevents the blood from clotting. He says that calling it a blood thiner is incorrect. It prevents the blood from clotting so we must be careful not to cut ourselfs seriously and be careful not to bang our heads because it will cause bleeding on the brain that will not stop. You should have recieved a flyer from the drug company explaining this. They are also offering a card that allows you to get the drug for around $30.00 for one year. Hope this helps. Good luck.
