Hi i've been taking 24mgs a day for about 17 months now,my doctor says it's time to start tapering off but hasn't really gave me a definate way of doing so,went from telling me to take 2mgs less a month to 4mgs less a week..Any help would be greatly appreciated..Thanks
Dear Rlee, welcome to the site. Most drs don't really have a definitive plans themselves for getting people off, but it will be closer to the 2mgs a month as opposed to 4 mgs a week that I would suggest. If you will click my avatar, it will take you to my page and on my page, i tell my subs story, and I give the taper plan and all tips I used to come off of suboxone withdrawal free and no relapses. I have been off for close to a year and am fine. A slow taper is less noticeable physically and i had some specific advice given to me by a guy named mpvt concering tapering and he was ever so right. My counselor was really the one who suggested 4 weeks between drops in doses and i was comfortable and fine. If you read my story, it will explain what, how, where, why and when that i used to figure out how to get off of it and it might help you as well. Remember, if you get to a sticking point, slow down, and you will still stabilize and be able to drop later, You can always take a bit more subs if you are feeling bad. Patti
