how do I get suboxion if I don't have a prescription for the methadone I have been taking for the last 2yrs. My doctor is a jerk and has violated my hipa rights so I don't feel comfortable telling him about my addition
Not trying to discourage you at all, but the switch to suboxone from methadone is tricky. Welcome to the site. It is not impossible to go from methadone to suboxone, just tricky, because you don't want to go into precipitated withdrawal if the induction is done wrong. First, you must be at 30 mgs or less a day and you will have to wait 72 hours and it would still be better if they start you on subutex first, same active ingredient, bupenorphine, but subutex does NOT have the naloxone that suboxone does. Methadone is also a long acting med, which means it takes up all the room on the receptor sites, and takes days to recede from those sites. If you take subutex or suboxone without tapering and waiting, you will go into a nasty form of withdrawal known as precipitated withdrawal. You really should pick a suboxone dr who has much experience transitioning patients from methadone to subutex, and ask when you call, if the dr is experienced, the nurse will tell you.
If they seem to be in question, call a different one. You can find a suboxone dr by going to suboxone.com and finding the doctor locator on the here to help page. You can also open the range of area you are searching, write them all down, induction fees and office visit fees vary widely. Best of Luck, your pharmacy might also be able to tell you which suboxone/subutex drs are in your area. Patti ps, most subs drs will not care that you how you got the methadone, if they are a good suboxone dr and experienced with methadone to suboxone, they will be happy to assist you in your quest for recovery.
Only a certain amount of doctors per region or a mile radius are certified, trained to Prescribe Buprenorphine or suboxone/subuex, which are different compounds.
Go to the Beckitt website, the makers of sub, and type in your City or regions, and you will get a list.
It has been my 6 year experience that this is a niche area. Every time my Doctor wanted me to take Rx sub, I expressed concerns, and said and asked if I could get off it. He said it's Withdrawl Symtpoms are "self limited" to 2 weeks. These were his words.
Never felt he wanted off it, he even said it us being used as an anti-depressant, in Germany where it is used widely.
So, he was using on me as an anti-depressant, not what it was designed for. I never did heroin, Vicodin. I only took Demoral for a kidney stone briefly, and had a very similar detox that I an currently having from sub, currently clean for 9/10 days.
I took Darvon for 1 year, 1 pill per day, and then went off, then Tramadol for 3 months. The only reason I ended up on sub, was I got a seizure from Tranadol.
That's it, I knew nothing about it. Please try to avoid it if you can, as it's 30-40x stronger by molecular weight and opiate affinity to Mu receptors than morphine and many other opiods.
That's my personal 6 year experience which has changed my life, and I am barely getting thru the detox, which is beyond hard.
Congrats on tryin to get away from buyin Dones on the street and tryin to get hooked up with a prescribing Suboxone Dr. In 2006, I had taken 50mg of Methadone in the am. Fentynal and Junk prior to that day. 12 hours later that night, I took my 1st Suboxone. Personally, I felt no dopesickness at all. Everyone's different.I came clean w my Dr. as far as the range and amounts of opiates Ive been using on a daily for the last 8 years or so. I was the first patient he had prescribed it to. It surprisingly saved my life , really. After 3 years of bein on Subs, I lost my Health Ins. My Doc. and I thought it would be ok to switch me to Methadone, vs. $750./mo. cash for #90 Subs. I hated the idea but I got it tweeked to where I felt the same on 30mg. of Methadone as when I took 1 Sub. So Im currently taking that now successfully, with no high. Just enough to not get sick and do my day. Idont miss that life of having to cop any and all PKillers to be good for that day and the next.
Now, I realize and understand most will disagree with this advice, but it's for you and not them anyway. Tell your current Doc. or a more profess. one, "look, I can order these Methadone, Morphine, Oxy"s etc.online from Nambia??? And yes you can if you know what you're doin. Or some shit. But, I prefer to be under a physicians (HIS) care and do it the safe way." Bout 9/10 docs will agree with your way of thinkn and do what they can to help you, if that"s trully what you want? Cool?? JUSTIN
