To whomever can help... I have been taking suboxone for detox for about three wekks or so now.. I did exactly as the doctor ordered.. I got down to the half and tried to quite completly as he had said to do.. but now Im not sleeping... AT ALL... i have restless legs and anxiety throught the roof.. I just need some relief from the insomnia or I feel like I'm going to be stuck on the stuff forever... and I just want to be clean again.. fully clean.. please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
mary..81, Insomnia is just part of opiate withdrawal! Yet sleep you will... eventually! It just takes a while. Ask doc for something for the anxiety. You will feel better if you are on anxiety meds, but most of them are addictive, so be careful. I took Benadryl ( when I flushed my oxycontin), got a few hours of sleep. Try taking hot baths for the crazy legs. You may have diarrhea when you stop Suboxone. Try Immodium for that.

I don't have a computer at home so I just saw your post. I found several YouTube videos explaining how to get off suboxone and what to expect when you do. I never thought to look their. One set of vidoes is from Dennis Hansen at New Beginnings treatment center and he mentions several medications they use to detox someone off suboxone, including meds for insomnia. The other set of videos is from a Psychiatrist name Dr. Jeffrey Junig aka suboxdoc and he has a website and a forum you and ask questions and post on. He is located at Fon du lac Psychiatry in Fon du lac. He has taken suboxone as well. He is doing this privately and offers a series of tapes for sale or donation about getting off suboxone as well as the info vids on youtube.com. I just found these yesterday, I hope they will help you as well. You know to taper your suboxone down before "jumping off," right. You should get it down to .25 migs and then start skipping days in between doses. I have found that tapering my dose by splitting it up into 2 doses, one in morning and one in the evening and then waiting 3 or 4 weeks to retaper it was painless and easy. Walking or other light exercise when off suboxone actually stimulates natural brain endorphins and will speed up the process. You might want to start that when you get down to .25 mgs. It helps reboot the neurotransmitter/receptor site response. I hope you get this.
