There is a list and formula known as the Thomas recipe of over the counter meds and supplements that help opiate withdrawal symptoms. Google the thomas recipe opiate withdrawal. There is another option that is a bit more expensive, but works well, it involves going on a medication called suboxone. It is expensive but will quell withdrawal and cravings and will allow you to work, remain home, and stay productive. If you will go to the suboxone.com webpage, it has a doctor locator service, only doctors who have taken the suboxone course are licensed to prescribe it, but likely there is one near you. I tell people to call all the ones listed in their area, as induction fees and office fees vary. A good suboxone doctor will require you to do addiction therapy, if you do, you will be saving yourself from possible relapse. You can also go to YouTube.com and look at some videos by 2 people, SuboxDoc and Maple2609. Try to watch the 2 part video on how suboxone works that SuboxDoc did, and watch Maple2609 vids as to why he and many others have chose suboxone. It is sunday and many do family things and Church, keep checking your post here for more answers as I am sure others will post later. Keeping ya in my Prayers. Pattishan61
You really have one of three choices, as patti mentioned, you can go cold turkey, you can use Suboxone or you can taper off the hydrocodone.
To learn more about Soboxone use, I recommend the following:
If you are very determined, you can taper off the hydro's with little withdrawals. I still recommend that you get some type of addiction's counseling though such as you would find at Narcotics Anonymous or through a private addiction's counselor. With a Suboxone program, it should include counseling as well.
You have to make a decision. Then stick with it. You can do it and we are here to support your decision.
