ive taken oxycodone for over 5 years the past 6 months ive had no insurance so was unable to see my doctor, have a friend who turned me on to methadone and has done wonders i now have insurance and am going to see the same doctor how do i suggest it. I have always been honest with him
Don't believe I would tell the doc that you took your friends methadone, but you can always ask the doc about methadone out of curiosity. Simply explain that you have a friend that takes methadone and would that be an alternative for you. You'll probably have to convince the doc that the oxycodone is not working, but other than that not muuch else you can do without sounding like drug seeker.
I agree with Laurie! Just explain the situation to the doctor about the insurance and ask him if he would be opposed to trying Methadone? but you can ask and he knows you've been honest he might be willing to give it a try, It is my sincere hope that you are able to be on the best medication suited for you situation, these are my thoughts along with my best wishes
I wonder where, & what type of pain you have. I had to take Methadone for 10 years due to what they thought was a liver problem that was not, so finally back on hydrocodone. I actually hated Methadone. Kept having to increase the dosage. It's like any other you get used to the dose & have to have an increase. Pretty soon as my experience was, I felt like a zombie. Falling asleep at red lights etc... I would rethink this idea if I were you. Just my thoughts...
