My current migraine is very severe pain, for 28 hrs now. I take Verapamil 120mg daily, & have tried 1 Norco Tablet, 1 Imitrex Shot, & 3mg of Stadol Nasal Spray, since the onset of this migraine. (Not all at once) Still - NO RELIEF!!! I AM SO MISERABLE!!! HELP!!
This sometimes worked for me when I had a bad migraine, Ice. I would put about 10 cubes in a couple of zip loc baggies and lay with them either under my neck or on my head where it was hurting the most. I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes the meds don't work, they just make you feel better about having the head ache. Do you have anyone who can take you to the emergency room? If you do, and you are still in really bad pain, go there and see if this person can stay with you when you get back home to make sure you have some help.
Have you ever tried and OTC Oral Spray (in the mouth) by the name of Cobroxin. I saw it on this forum or MedHelp, can't remember, and read up on it. Ordered it 6 weeks ago and haven't had ANY form of migraine, or regular headache, since. The stuff is wonderful for my other aches and pains too! Please know that it may not work the same for everyone but what have you got to lose? The cheapest price I found was from PhillyPhar for just short of $15 and no tax/shipping or handling costs and to it either.
I have had Migraines for many years and nothing ever worked until my Doctor put me on Fioricet with Codeine for severe Headaches, and Fioricet without Codeine for the mild ones. It worked great and I had no side effects. It is expensive, even the generic. I hope you get some relief soon!
Imetrex, prescription drug, one dose , migraine (mostly) gone, then fades away into forgotten memory very good stuff, always makes me think it not work but then it does, can't say thank you enough, the migraines were all consuming.
Before that all I could do was lie in a darkened, completely quiet room, as little on as possible with a pillow over my head and rock and moan.
Imitrex last time I used it was no longer that stinging bee of a shot, rather a pill that you could repeat every so often.
You may have complicated migraines like I do. My neurologist has told me to not EVER take usual migraine meds, will make pain worse. My symptoms were seeing an aura before migraine then I would have nuerological symptoms of not being able to form words, right side of body (including face), looks as if I've had a stroke. Currently there are no meds to prevent. My Dr has advised me to take 2 sprays of stadol and 25 mg phenergan when I see the aura. Avoid caffiene, smoking, migraine meds, sudafed or anything that will constrict blood vessels. Complicated migraines are opposite usual migraines. Blood vessels are NOT dialated but are constricted. Injection of toradol helps me. I've been told can get toradol prescibed now (injections). Good Luck, hope I helped.
