I was in an accident a few months ago and went to the hospital and chiropractic. The hospital put me in a neck brace says to wear it a few days and that was it. My chiropractor is doing treatments such as acupuncture and laser therapy which seem to aggravate it even more. Popping it does not seen to help either. I'm lot sure how to relieve this pain! Has anyone else experienced anything like this??
No I have not had anything like this happen to me. I'm sorry you are suffering.
If you think the treatment is making it worse, I would hold off until you see a specialist preferably an orthopedist of neurologist.
Have you had physical therapy? It may be more gentle for this period plus they have to operate under a physician's order.
There is nothing wrong with chiropractic treatment (my father was one) but may be not right now.
I think you need further testing if not done so since the accident occurred. I'm not talking about x-rays but an MRI.
The sooner the body heals, the less likely for it to become chronic.
Unfortunately I've been in quite a few car accidents since infancy and have gone through many types of therapies afterwards. I know chiropractic helped sometimes, but I found physical therapy, in several forms, to be more helpful other times. I was told by a now retired PT if I don't feel better after the first 3 treatments, or was in great pain due to the therapy, then change physical therapists.
Restorative yoga (class or at home) can be a relaxing, but still pain relieving, activity. It's really about inactivity in a pose for usually 5-20+ minutes. Part of the help offered by these poses for after an accident is you more gently are working to keep proper body alignment based on pose selected. In true restorative poses, your body is fully supported by bolsters, blankets, etc and you focus on full breaths and total relaxation. A gentle yoga class may be good too as shoulder opening is usually a focus or partial focus - you can always grab a bolster to lay under head and spine during Savasana to make it a gentle shoulder stretch at the end of class.
Bmason1997; Yes I can sure relate to your problems and I like the answers you already have, I feel that you should be further along by now. If it was me I would go back to the Medical doctor and you would need that doctor to look at you again, And see if it is something more. But a lot of the inflammation should be gone by now so they may be able to see things better, And also ask about a physical therapist most insurance want you to have a referral. This way you can take care of both at once. Sure, hope you feel better soon. Chuck1957
