My fiancee has stage three prostate cancer which has spread into his hip bone. He has no other health problems, though! He wants to hit this cancer through a holistic alternative vs. to the "traditional" methods used by doctors. We are vegetarians and eat organic food already. Also, he does not take any medications at all and does not want to start. Any ideas? Thanks!
Although I can appreciate your fiancee's desire to stay medication free, there are some conditions that require that the big guns be pulled out. Cancer is one of them. I suggest that you and your fiancee' talk earnestly with his oncologist and express his desire to stay off of the traditional meds. Perhaps his doctor will have ideas for him. There are also doctors who practice holistic medicine along with the traditional medicine. His doctor might know of one and can refer him. I wish you both well.
Hello. Am so sorry he has this cancer. My little girl at five had an incurable cancer. We decided on a radical surgery as no chemo could cure it. She is fine now. She does pay with pain. Of course she is glad to be here rather than have died. No more could she have made the decision as many adults. When it is another it seems very clear for a decision. When it is you, it is frightening. I suppose he does not consider a therapist. I suggest you find one as you will be there dealing with the choices. You will need help to stand strong.
I tell people who become close minded to options the following. I respect their decision and ask them if they have everything ready should they die. For all the medical cures that happen, there are very, very few that resolve with natural alternatives. Though I wish he will cure that way, chances are a bone cancer has metastasized to other parts of the body. He does have the right to determine how his life will end. He had best be sure he really wants this. Talk with a homeopath about possibilities. He will be needing pain medications. Marajuana will not do it. Only the early part of pain. Talk with Hospice as well. They know a lot about this.so sorry. Karen
He can try to see a naturopathic doctor. I used to work for a naturopath. They are NMD's rather than just MD. As a traditional medicine nurse, I was very skeptical but I did see some pretty amazing things while I worked for this naturopath. He gave a lot of IV high dose vitamin C and sometimes used a type of microwave therapy to shrink tumors. Some people used both naturopathic medicine and traditional chemo together, and some just used the naturopathic meds. I think if I had cancer, I'm not sure I would undergo chemo either to be perfectly honest. I dont know. I cant blame him for not wanting to dump all those poisons into his body making the whole body sick to try to treat a few cells. It would be a soul searching decision and I can totally respect his decision. You can go online to see if there are any naturopathic doctors near you. One major downside is that it is very very expensive and insurances will not cover most of it.
It is mostly a cash pay out of pocket treatment. That is something to consider if you dont have a lot of reserve cash. Chemo, at least, is covered by most insurances.
