... same procedure. Would this be the right group? Am a Vietnam veteran, this will be my first major surgery. I'm still ambulatory. Now use a cane. Plenty of pain. At this point, NSAID's provide minimal relief. Since I've finally decided for elective hip surgery, I've been trying to find info re: operating surgeon, not so easy within VA healthcare system, despite my being grateful for its fine medical services.
They should be able to get you into an orthopedic dr. The ortho drs in the army during Nam, when I was, were some of the best. You want one who does these more then 1x a month. The new prosthesis is far better now then even 5 yrs ago. The VA is a system all its own. You almost need a translator to understand it, lol... Your primary doc will have to get you hooked up with a good ortho dr.
