Have high blood pressure 160-140/100-80. Don't smoke, drink. Vegetarian with low salt, high potassium diet. 60 years old. Exercise often and vigorously. Resting heart rate 50 bpm. Not overweight. Multiple meds have not helped blood pressure. Have two mild heart murmurs. Why won't meds work?
When it comes to heart disease, heredity is one of the factors you just can not control. Despite your health lifestyle you just can not change your family history. I suggest that you continue to work with your Dr in finding medications that work. I have seen people take a long time to find that right medication. One thing you can do is ask your Dr about taking something on a as needed basis. Example Take 1 pill for blood pressure over 160. This would mean you would have to monitor your blood pressure very often. You could start doing that now to show that you are capable of doing so. So keep up with the things you can control and work with your Dr till the right medication is found
