... Trazadone which made me gain 20 lbs in 3 months and now Im on Celexa and that doesnt seem to be working
Pledge is one of the best when it comes to advice on these type of medications, I also have Panic, I have issues with a lot of the antidepressants
I had one called Lexapro that seems to work (on script order by a doctor) if this drug works then I would rather have the weight than the depression! I hope I have been of some help Caringsonbj (Billy)
Thank you for the responses. It was nice to finally figure out what was wrong with me instead of just thinking im a crazy, depressed witch all the time. Im sure my husband appreicated it too!! LOL
Im going to call the doctor today to get a appointment so I can this figured out. I guess I didnt realize it was going to take a few "tries" to figure it out. My friend told me her daughter is on Zoloft I should try that. Another friend said Prozac. Its all a bit overwhelming. I just want something that makes me "better" without packing on the pounds.
You might try Lexapro. I took a 10mg daily dose and it helped so much better than any other antidepressant I had been on. I must add that I am on Benzos for Anxiety. There just comes a point when it's actually better to go the benzo route, rather than heart issues, high blood pressure, and strokes.
Definitely let your Dr. know that this medicine is not working for you.
It its important to let your Dr. know how the medicine is working or Not working.
Another thing I would suggest that you do is to keep track of what medications you have tried & what side effects or what happened when you were on it.
Unfortunately there are So many different medications & combinations of medications you may have to try before you find the one that works. So Do Not get Discouraged as sometimes it may take a little while to find the Right Combination for YOU !!
But always know that you are Not Crazy..
That there is help out there for you.
The thing is that Every Medication Reacts differently for Every person.
So take your Drs. Advice as to what medication is right for you.
Best of luck, Kathy
How long have you been on the Celexa? It can take up to four weeks or longer for it to work. Also, what works for one person, may not necessarily work for others. Everyone has a different genetic make-up, so you have to take a try and see attitude. Pledge is correct that you might need a benzodiazepine for the anxiety and panic attacks. Hopefully you are seeing a psychiatrist for this problem, as they have the tools to know which medications to prescribe. One other suggestion is to try meditation. It might take a bit to learn, but it is quite easy and effective.
Best wishes to you! I certainly understand how awful anxiety and panic attacks are!
