When i was 26 I found out I have nf1 neurofibromatosis 1. I also have neuropathic pain. my insurance will only pay for 3 pills a day. the pain I have just keeps getting worse. If anyone can help thank you. the tummors i have some of them hurt bad. if anyone can help thank you.
Im sorry to hear what you are going thru. Im not a doctor or pharmacist, but my understanding is that 3600mg is the maximum dosage allowed per 24hr period. I myself take 2700mg every day for my fibro and neuropathic pain. Check with your pharmacist to see if they can work something out. Some drug stores offer their own Rx card which can make a big difference for someone like me who has no insurance. I hope things work out for you. Best wishes!
You may check with Target who has a membership card for the year ($20.00) with very reduced prices for prescriptions. I have now heard that shopping around to the big chain stores and local small pharmacies can have big differences in costs. In our area the variance was as much as 90% less at a small pharmacy. Also they are very competitive and your favorite one will match the cost. I spent an hour calling and found large differences for one of my meds. Every pharmacy said they would match my lowest price if I told them where and how much. Worth a try no matter where you live.
Also ordering from the big companies by mail can save a lot as well. For example Walgreens will ship free a ninety day supply for far less cost.
But do not buy from the Internet. It has a very high risk and you may get a fake drug.
If cash problems, for necessary meds the company that makes it will send it free or very inexpensive. I was receiving free Cellcept ($1400/month normally) because of our income. A life saver in cost as well as medication.
I know something of the neurofibromatosis. They thought my daughter had it until it turned out to be a sarcoma. So sorry you have this. It is rare and very painful. My thoughts and wishes go out to you. You are very brave. Karen
If you cannot receive enough medication due to your insurance you may want to get ahold of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals patient assistance. I have found that Pfizer is Great at helping people medications.
They would provide you with the Brand name of the Gabapentin which is Neurontin,
Look then up on line for the information & phone#& let them know your situation.
Best of luck, Kathy
