... replacement due to a tibia, plateau fracture on my left, leg I tried to explain to my doctor that oxycodone and hydrocodone does absolutely nothing for my pain the only thing that seems to help is the morphine tablets that my mom has given me in the past now the question is how do I aproach my doctor to prescribe me morphine instead of the others I've mentioned without appearing to be a junkie looking for his next fix or drug seeking
Well chris first off you need to see pain managment or you might already be in a PM this is the only place you can get the morphine regular physicians wont prescribe morphine! Next when you see your doctor dont be scared to tell him that your mom has similar issues and that she had told you that morphine has worked really well for her. That you would like to see if that would be helpful for you and if you can have the other medicine like oxy or hydro for breakthrough pain. If then he insist that he wont give you mophine then he is not going to break and give it to ya. Then you will have to find a doctor that is willing to prescribe this med if this is what works for you. Its kinda crazy cause here in austin texas we cant get the doctors to give us the oxy or hydro they insist on the morphine and we dont want it how bout we just trade places:) lol. Okay now that you are armed with this knowledge go get em! GOOD LUCK let me know how it goes.
Do you have the documents to back up your low back pain? MRI's, a diagnosis? Medical records? If not, you will have a hard time getting a doc (even in PM clinic) to prescribe morphine. And it won't be prescribed for post op pain which is considered acute pain, not chronic. Can you document the back pain? That is the main issue...
My best wishes,
