... no more seizures but i suffer from depression and migraines due to the surgery. i take 20 mg of paxil and 60 mg of cymbalta for my depression but nothing so far for my migranes my doc can not find any med to help my miganes please help!!!
i know how you feel with this one has i also had brain surgery back in 1992 to remove a tumour and then suffered with nasty headaches (migranes) and still do, the best thing i can tell you to do is to go back to your drs and ask him to think about putting you on codine they work for me, so i guess its worth giving a try.
Hello dimples420. I've a question in regards to the paxil. (I also take it) Did you have the migranes prior to taking it? I know, when I began paxil, back I for the first several weeks had headaches (not migranes), which then left. If you did have them before beginning the paxil, I'd ask your doctor to prescribe you another drug to help with the migranes. Not very helpfull, but its the best that I have to offer. In my case to prevent headaches (haven't had migranes in years) I take coffee. I drink it by the gallon so to speak and it keeps me headache free. Really works in my case. best wishes to you hope you feel better soon.
Hi there. I get migraines all the time too. I mean throbbing ones that are worsened just by walking alone. That sucks bad. Walking up steps, no matter how slow I try to make it, the pain depresses me even worse. I too take medicine for depression. Ive been on sertraline for a few years now. In the past I was put on the paxil and focalin. Not at the same time but both of which amped my headaches. Stopped both after just two days. Anyways last week I went to my doc again about my headaches/migraines. I get headaches every other day, most of which turn into what I would consider "just kill me now". So she says that taking a pain killer is not suggested so she gave me topamax. It builds up in your system. For a week I take one before bed, next week I take two ad three the third. Im on my first week. Its not built up enough. However, she did give me maxalt 10mg. I got them before. They work ! Had a throbber yesterday, ofcourse when I had company over ! I havnt asked anyone yet about what they thought of this topamax. Id like to see if it works for me first. Let me know what u think of it if you know. Hope this helps a lil atleast. Take care
Hi dimples420! I don't suffer from migraines but my sister does. My suggestion is to switch from paxil to something else. I've heard of people getting headaches with paxil. Also, your Cymbalta dosage can be increased to 90 mg or 120 mg. I take 120 mg for chronic pain & I do find that this dosage does help me. Some anti-depressants trigger migraines too so that's another consideration. There are many anti-depressants available & they don't all have the same side effects.
Please visit your doctor & let him/her know that your meds aren't working to your benefit so you need to change at least 1 of them.
Good luck with your migraines, dimples! You must be such a strong person to have to contend with those all the time. I'm glad you joined the migraine support group here. You should be able to find out more alternatives & suggestions there as well.
All the best! from Wendy :)
