... hurting more and more over the years. Plus, I think since we've had the air conditioner on lately it that also seems to cause my back to hurt more. Yet, my doctor will not give me anything for the pain. Do you thinking if I was to go to a doctor that specialized in this he or she might be familiar with what I need to help me get through the day? I just don't like changing to a new doctor as we just got this one. What do you say to get their attention to give you something that would make life more manageable? Any ideas? Please feel free to ask questions or respond as many times as you think of something.
First off I want to say that Im sorry to hear you are going through so much pain with your back. I understand and know what its like to live with pain daily, It stinks and it affects your life on all levels. Try approaching your Dr one more time and explain to him that this pain is really affecting the quality of life that you lead. Explain that it makes you depressed (if it has) If he still declines to help your pain.. ask him why? Have him explain why he feels any sort of pain reliever wont help you. Ask him how he feels about pain management. Some dr's are afraid of giving patients pain management and although on a personal level i feel they shopuldnt be Dr's if they place limitations on who or what type of people they will help if they are able.. Unfortunately it happens all too often. Hun dont suffer like this if he wont help you. Find a pain specialist who can help you. Or find a dr who deals with this type of pain for your type of condition. What type of surgery was he talking about anyhow? And why does he feel its not a good idea? Dont waste yout time on Dr who wont help you, its not worth it and in the end you are the one who suffers. Let me know how you are doing and how it goes. Take care and be well and DO NOT GIVE UP... Snakey
They have not perfected surgery for your problem. This is a birth defect and if they were going to do something they should had done that when you were a child. Do your own homework and see what is new out there. This curvature is going to get worse. Sometimes laying on the floor may help. Have a very firm bed.
If I find anything I surely will let you know...
I have a 42* curve in my spine after a 73* debilitating curve and I have a fusion from L-1 thru T-3 and there is only one vertebre left unfused and it takes so much of the toll of my whole back weight and all. I have no ability to ride a bike, swim, or jog anymore though without surgery as you know I would have crowded my organs and caused harm. It is hard to say if I would do it again as it was a life changing moment, gained three inches of heighth and all, and guess I can truly say listen to the doctors and also listen to your heart. especially your heart,
i too have scoliosis. i have been to the best spine center in this area. The md told my parents i needed surgery before 18 and they did nothing. Now at 47 and having been suffering for 10 years, the md said no surgery is available due to my age. It is also affecting my breathing on my left side and smashing my lung. So surgery is not an option i am told for my scoliosis. best of luck to you. I would get at least 3 md.s opinions before having any surgery if possible. Surgery is a big step.
