I have been taking aropax for four years and now the effects have worn off, I have tried other medications and found them unhelpful, I suffer panic attacks all the time and am unable to leave the house because my anxiety is so bad. Can anyone please forward me any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
you can get therapy over the phone, and when you are able to leave the house (or if you can force your self to now) cognitive behavioral therapy with social skills training can be very helpful. these will help control anxiety and make you more comfortable in social situations (with being unable to leave the house seeking this help will be very hard. if you know anything about exposiure therapy (mainly speaking of Flooding) then you will know this will be extreamly anxiety producing. It may be beneficial for you to start off going as far as you can out side your house daily, dont foce anything but try to get further and further (<-systematic desensitization)) as for medications thats all trial and error especualy for the antidepressants since they take about a month to kick in . Benzodiazepines are narcotic so they arnt recomended for daily use, im pretty sure anticonvulsants can help and maybe muscle relaxers can.
Hi I am so sorry to hear how you are feeling. I know that there is nothing more that you want than to feel well. Have you tried Therapy? Sometimes it helps to have a trained professional help you figure out where the anxiety is coming from. I suffer from anxiety and depression and I can tell you it is the anxiety that I have the hardest time with. I actually have anxiety just worring about getting a anxiety attack. I am on Cymbalta and in the 4th week. My depression is undercontrol but I am still struggling with the anxiety and I have no idea where it is coming from. It is my goal that if the meds don't work I will seel counseling. It can't hurt to try it. Have you talked to your Doctor? Maybe if you have been seeing him for the past 4 years he can come up with a plan to help resolve some or all of what you are feeling or refer you to someone he thinks can help. I force myself out of the house and feel better once I am out. I love to take 5 mile walks but I have not been able to do it I was actually getting anxiety from beating myself up over it. It is a viscious cycle. So I have learned to take baby steps with hope that the rest will soon follow and hopefully I can get back to being who I once was. I want that so much as I am sure you do as well. It is also very hard because those that are close to us really do not understand this thing that has temporary control of us. I say temporary because we must be positive and know that with the right mind set and support from our doctor family and friends we will come out of the black hole that holds us hostage. These are just my personal feelings and how I see what I am going through. I hope that knowing you are not alone in itself will inspire you to take the steps that you feel will help you in your own personal situation to move forward and live life the way I know you want to.
