... anxious and kind of sad - feel so ashamed about all of this... i am taking 1 to 1 1/2 a day - can anyone tell me what to expect the next few days/weeks? thanks everyone
hey, welcome. please try to feel triumphant, you have changed your life for the better. congratulations. i go to group counseling with others on suboxone and some who quit alcohol and we feel a real commraderie. we support each other and you really need that. stay around positive people. you may feel guilty and ashamed for a while, but, you shouldn't. most addicts come from families of alcoholics/addicts and it is a disease that is inherited. I am the first in my family to get sober, you might be too. You may go through some depression also, not unheard of. please seek out help immediately if you feel it coming on. You may not go through it, I hope not, but, no one warned me it could happen and my counselor caught mine and made me call the doctor. Try to appreciate one day at a time, and if that is too much right now, be grateful for each hour. you are getting better and will continue to do so, if you want it. sobriety is very new to you now, but, soon it will be old hat. try and read about anxiety and you usually will find some new ways to deal with it. i try to find funny videos on youtube to enjoy and take my mind off my anxiety. laughing is a powerful medicine. read the questions on this forum and see if you can answer any. you may get a burst of energy from the suboxone and you can use that to get things done that you couldn't before.i am so happy you came here to talk. I will say some Prayers that you are able to relax and enjoy your new life. hope you have a good night tonight and a great day tomorrow. Patti
