I seem to feel that plain oxycodone works best for my pain condition although I now take hydrocodine
Hydrocodone is either Vicodin, Lortabs, or Norco, unless you aren't in the USA. Today's OxyContin is a whole new formula and many people say it doesn't work well, if at all.
I personally didn't like MsContin and it makes me suicidally depressed. I think any Morphine pill would do that to me.
I also like straight Oxycodone, which are known as Roxicodone, the little blue pills in 15 or 30 mg strengths. The problem is they wear off quickly and then I crave them. What about you? Do you crave them? It's no good if that happens.
Have you ever been allowed to try the Fentanyl patch? They are made by many companies, and different people usually do best with one or another company. That may take time to find. But if you have constant 24 hour pain, Fentanyl patches may be the best thing for you. Some people love them. I must warn you, that you don't feel them like an opiate pill. There is no narcotic buzz from them. They just kill pain. I had the Mylan ones which were highly recommended to me, but my skin wouldn't absorb the drug. I went back to MsContin, but it was a bad idea. But if you don't care about feeling the opiate, and if your skin will absorb the med, Fentanyl may be best.
There is another thing for pain called the Lidoderm patches. These are non narcotic and don't go into your blood stream. You place these where the pain is and they work for 12 hours on, and 12 hours off. I use these and they help. I love them, but again not everyone does. We are all different and we all get relief from different meds in different ways. I say try the Lidoderm patches in addition to whatever else you end up taking. They contain Lidocaine which is similar to what a dentist uses to numb your mouth. The only reason not to use them is if you're allergic to Lidocaine.
Hope all this helps.
