... Suboxone treament and I begin on Monday. I was in touch with my doctor about two months ago and he told me he would do his best to find me Suboxone treatment. Well now that the day is almost here, I am so nervous and worried that I will not do well with it. Does anyone have any information on how Suboxone works and has it worked for you, if you have taken it? I feel that I am more psychologically dependent and the Suboxone is used to help the physical symptoms. Has anyone taken Suboxone, and has it helped you? Has it worked for you. All information and or support would be gratefully appreciated. thank you so much
Suboxone does work but you really do need to do the counseling for addiction that goes along with it. Many drs now are not requiring it, although it is supposed to be mandatory. Counseling helps resolve emotional issues that may have brought on the addiction/dependence and the support of the counselor or group really is the best thing for most subs patient. If you don't mind, click on my avatar or my name in blue and read my profile story, I used subs and it did work for me. Read old posts in the suboxone group here and that should help too.
Wanted to encourage you on your new found freedom from opiates. I haven't taken Suboxone, as I didn't know it existed back when I got off the opiates, but many people have had good luck with it.
As long as your doctor steps you through the induction, maintenance and taper of the suboxone, you will do fine. As Patti mentioned, getting counseling along with the drug therapy is critical to your recovery. You need to learn tools for staying clean after you are off the suboxone and attending group or individual addiction's counseling will do that. The suboxone will help the physical part and counseling will help the psychological part of the addiction.
Wishing you the very best and do keep in touch,
Just remember that you have come forth and have been truthful about your situation and to me that says a lot, I am sure this is difficult and worries you since you are about to deal with something that is unknown to you, We have a person on here called Pattishan mention her name around and I feel sure she will run into you she has had a lot of experience with Subutex and Suboxone, keep this in mind you are not alone and there are lots of people that are on this site that care about the outcome of others, I support you and am proud that you are working towards turning this part of your life into a very positive aspect. I believe that there may come a day when you may be able to use this experience to help someone else because you know exactly how it feels, remember I care and I am among many people!! hang in there!!!
