Sorry I'm a little confused. When you say 6 months no dope use,are you talking about just not doing oxys, but doing suboxone or 6 months with nothing because if that's the case why start the suboxone? I assume it's the first I mentioned. I would keep dropping your dose down until you don't feel dope sick at all. As far as cleansing your system, I'd drink alot of water or cranberry juice works well on urinary tract and probably your kidneys too. I had a friend who was in the same boat as you and he knew he just had to get away(Wis) & moved to Tennesee with a friend who's been in the program for a long time & has been doing good & all he went down there with was a couple hundred mg of Methadone. I on the other hand need my meds & it's a catch22. I need the meds for pain(SEVERE) but I find myself thinking about them all the time. Anyway good job and keep it up it's easy to slip, but you sound like you've been through the grinder and don't want to go back.
You have to get the suboxone down to .50 or better, .25 and skip days after you have gotten it down that low and kept it that way a few weeks. Exercise, especially walking helps reboot the natural pain relievers in the brain. You can start walking before you get your dose down. Once you have stabilized on the .50 or .25, you skip taking a dose for 2 or 3 days. You can also look up the Thomas Recipe on this site and call some health food stores to see if they have it already in a kit or available separately. This is a recipe that someone named Thomas formulated with otc meds and supplements to address any signs of withdrawal. There are some faster methods listed here in old suboxone posts, however, it kinda depends on how long your brain has been since it had to signal and then produce it's own pain relievers, as to how fast you can go down on your dose. I have read that you can decrease the dose by 1/4th every 4 days.
My counselor says that might be too fast for me and recommends staying at the lower dose a minimum of 2 weeks. Hope this helps you some.PS they also use a blood pressure medicine called clonidine to help with withdrawal. It wouldn't hurt to have some on hand when you get your dose low and decide to stop.
I agree with prior posts, just make sure you have beaten the addiction mentally, before dropping to fast. Even at the level you are at with subs it will still be a hard w/d if you jump. Drop 10% - 25% of your dose every 4-7 days if you find that you start to w/d stay at that dose for even a little longer. It scares me to see you write "I am down to 2mgs or 4mgs per day" because that is a 50% difference. Try to start at 3mgs a day and in 4 or 5 days go to 2mgs if you feel good. After a week at 2mgs go to 1.75mgs 4 to 5 days then 1.5mgs 4 or 5 days. once you reach .5mgs or even .25mgs then start to skip hours take every 24 hrs then 36 hrs then every 48hrs. Then JUMP be clean and love it. It takes awhile but it is worth it I jumped at 8mgs after being on 12mgs for three years and 24mgs for another two years. I am now 100% off subs and opiates but it was a ten year complete process, the last 5 on subs. I returned to college and graduated during those 5 years with a 3.6 gpa. I could have never done it without the subs. I did what I had too and then my addictive lifestyle was past me. Good Luck and i hope and pray you stay clean, GRAT JOB for 6months you should be proud!!! Fight the good Fight!!!
