I want to know how well it works and what all medications are actually in the patch itself?
I have a rare form of Trigeminal Neuralgia if that's what you mean by TN. That's because it affects both sides of my mouth. But the pain escalates to shock-like pain in my teeth. I have been wearing Butrans patches for years at 15 mcg which I believe that 20 mcg is the top level. I was prescribed them for severe migraines. I still had the intense TN pain and finally Baclofen stopped my pain. But as I have been lowering my Butrans patches 3 times--now down to 7.5 mcg, the teeth pain has escalated with me needing more Baclofen (muscle relaxant) pills. So I think that the Butrans patches do help my TN pain, but not nearly enough. However, it is difficult to know exactly since I have more pain all over each time that I lower dose of the Butrans patches. The pain gradually mostly goes away--but not completely. I have found that acupuncture does best in alleviating my migraines and also my teeth pain. So with acupuncture I don't need the same dose of the Baclofen that I would otherwise need when I reduce the Butrans patches.
I would really like to know if the Butrans patches do help your TN and how much do they help it. There were other medications that helped my TN, but I had allergic reactions to them. So Trileptal was very effective. Lyrica was another one that I tried, but couldn't handle the dose required. So PLEASE, keep in touch letting me know how you are doing.
