I'm avoiding Urgent Care or Clinics and going to a physical trainer referred MD next week to get my lower back looked at. Prednisone is helping but I still need a narcotic to knock out the pain and I don't think the Norco is strong enough for my back. Is it really hard to get an MD to try Percocet for a month with an Anti-inflammatory like the Prednisone... I want to see how the combo might work after a month! I hope he'll work with me since I'm giving the Prednisone the effort all the otc meds are just useless. Suggestions?
Do you have a family Dr that you are established with? I would definitely recommend NOT doing a Ready Care/Walk in clinic. Those clinics in the area that I live in have their staff running amock with holy water, crosses and Bibles in hand when that "P" (pain) word is spoken, whispered or even implied. Our medical community unfortunately is very submissive in regards to treating pain. Your better bet may be to find chronic pain providers. That is what they are there for: To evaluate and treat pain. Pain is not just a four letter word to them. So many send patients away untreated or even undertreated when it comes to pain issues. If you ever have any documentation to any pain problems that you may have experienced in the past always try to bring those records to any Dr appointments that you go to especially when that taboo subject of pain is in the mix of it.
