Hi , I have breast cancer her2 + and live in India . I was suggested to take Herceptin by Roche but at the hospital was injected by Herclon and was told its the same drug. I wanted to confirm whether Herclon is manufactured by Roche or not
Yes - they are the same. Herclon and Herceptin are both manufactured by Roche and contain the same ingredient trastuzumab. Trastuzumab is a monoclonal antibody used in treating her 2 neu–positive carcinoma of breast. Herceptin was the original brand. Roche brokered a deal with Emcure in India to make a more affordable version of trastuzumab which they called Herclon.
