Ive been taking cymbalta and celexa at differnt times in my life found some relief but now im wanting to go all natural so wondered if the 5-http would work for anxiety or depression? Is there any studys in finding this herb to be helpful?
5 http is not an herb. It is a chemical. It is not better then anti depressants. I wouldn't mess with my anti depressants. You go off of them, the depression will come back and now you have to go through the side effects of starting them and wait a month for it to work again. If there was a better way of treating depression millions of people wouldn't take anti depressants
I agree with the other comment that said that you should not take it upon yourself 2 go off of your antidepressents... There are herbs or supplements that can enhance your meds that you take, but u have 2 research the side effects & discuss all herbs or supplements with your doctor before taking anything. I noticed that a few herbs or supplements can indeed be taken with your antidepressents, but u must ask your dr first. I take 2 herbs sometimes with my antidepressents, & they are called Macca & Rhodiola Rosea capsules. I go to my shrink today & I am gonna tell her I take these supplements... she usually tells me if I can take them with my antidepressents or not! Good luck to you & keep us posted! I shall research that supplement that u are asking about!
My wife went off Cymbalta and onto all the most common natural remedies such as 5 htp,st. johns,Sammy,Valerian,GABA and few others. We tried pretty much everything that even remotly mentions depression treatment. None of the natural alternatives worked as well as Cymbalta, as far as improving the depression, however, the side effects of Cymbalta were unbearable for her and stopping Cymbalta was quite difficult.
You see why I wont start these meds??? They lock you in tighter than a bank vault. No thanks... perhaps someday I will have to start these meds, but not at 56. I have mild depression. Went for a walk, passed a blind couple in the sidewalk. As I narrowly avoided them with their walking sticks identifying the on coming steps with their canes, I decided depression is a choice. NOTHING in my life is that bad right now. Thank God! That thought secures me. No drugs for me!
